Winter Activities on The Shore

It’s officially winter and Kamloops’ North Shore is a great place to enjoy the snowy season. Just minutes away from Thompson Landing on Royal, you will find exciting activities that perfectly complement the snowy landscapes.

Craft breweries and local cafes

The North Shore has some of the best craft breweries you will find in the city. Spend the day exploring the outdoors and then visit Bright Eye Brewing, Red Beard Cafe or Yew Street Food Hall for some specialty brews that complement your cozy winter evenings. And if you are not into brews, the North Shore’s Tranquille Market Corridor also has unique local cafes that will add a touch of warmth to your days. Check out Logjam Coffee and 5Bean Brewbar and try their delicious locally roasted coffee and fresh pastries in a fun and inviting atmosphere that provides the perfect ending to a day of winter bliss.

Scenic walks

Winter walks along the Thompson River are some of the best ways to spend your days. Head over to Aviation Way by the Kamloops Airport and experience the tranquility of nature as you soak in some fresh crisp air. This trail is especially ideal for pet owners, as this is an off-leash dog area with enough room to play with your furry friends.

Ice skating and hockey

McArthur Island Park is a hub for winter sports, with an indoor ice rink where you can watch a thrilling game featuring the Kamloops Storm or spend some time ice skating with your friends. Whether you’re perfecting your technique on the ice or cheering on the local team, McArthur Island ensures your winter is full of fun and energy.

Winter Market

The beloved indoor Farmers’ Market is back for the winter, with a variety of vendors that will be set up at Mount Paul Community Food Centre every Saturday until February 24 from 10 am to 2 pm. This is a great way to continue supporting local farmers and small businesses in Kamloops during the winter months.

Indoor adventures

For those preferring the warmth of indoor activities, the North Shore offers an array of engaging options suitable for families, friends, and couples alike. Visit The Fun Factor, Kamloops’ largest fun centre featuring laser tag, arcades, and bumper cars, or spend a creative afternoon at the Kamloops Art Party trying out pottery, painting, and more.

As winter unfolds, there’s no shortage of excitement to be found on Kamloops’ North Shore. So, whether you're sipping on a specialty brew, gliding across the ice, or wandering through the winter market, this vibrant neighbourhood invites you to be part of the fun.
